Speedway Redevelopment Commission

MISSION STATEMENT

I. The Speedway Redevelopment Commission (SRC) was appointed by and is governed by The Speedway Town Council.
II. The SRC will redevelop blighted areas in Speedway , Indiana , into:

1. A world class, secure, high tech environment for the Motorsports Industry.

2. An inviting residential/retail community that ensures a secure and comfortable quality of life for residents.

3. A development that ensures a secure and enjoyable destination for visiting families to park.

4. A transportation design that is safe, secure, well marked and effective in moving and allowing visitors into and out of our community.

III. The SRC will publicize its activities at least quarterly to the Speedway community and the motorsports industry:

1.The Town of Speedway's new priority technology: Motorsport Technology.

2.The Town of Speedway's theme of the future: (options)

IV: The SRC will do everything within its power to foster the growth and revitalization of the Town of Speedway by bridging the gap between where we've been to where we need to go.

STATEMENT OF BELIEF

For nearly a century, the proudly independent town of Speedway has been a great place to live and raise a family. We intend to keep it that way. The Speedway Town Council has appointed the Speedway Redevelopment Commission (SRC) to insure our growth into this new millennium.

. The SRC is charged with addressing the problem of blighted industrial areas as we move the town toward an effective redevelopment. We will build upon our close identification with racing as we encourage growth in businesses related to motor sports technology.

We have been an industrial community with good roads, good schools and a good attitude. This is still true but times are changing rapidly and we will do more than just keep up. The Town Council has given the SRC an enthusiastic go-ahead. We believe in Speedway , we live here and want a community our children will want to live in. We will make these things happen.

Redevelopment Commission Objectives

1) Eliminate Blighting, deteriorated and deteriorating areas.

2) Eliminate blighting, deteriorated and deteriorating influences.

3) Maximizing new and existing opportunities for the development that is consistent with adopted plans for the area

4) Benefit the public health and welfare by stimulating an increase in the property tax base

5) Benefit the public health and welfare by protecting the economic value of the surrounding properties

6) Encourage and stimulate economic development in the project area

7) Phase out incompatible structures and land use

8) Redevelopment parcels in accordance with the Speedway Main Street Redevelopment Plan

9) Encourage redevelopment of the property

10) Support and stimulate further growth of commercial and industrial uses and other similar uses consistent with the Redevelopment Plan

11) Develop a Redevelopment Area Design Plan which sets forth the design and development standards for individual redevelopment projects in the RD Area.
